Graduated from Fairview, OK High School ( 1946 ) where he lettered in Football, Basketball, and Track
Named All-Conference / All-District / and All-Area in football at Fairview ( 1945 )
Selected to the 1945 Oklahoma High School All-State Football Team as a Running Back. Prior to the All-State Game, Dennis was switched to Quarterback and led the underdog North team over the favored South All-State Team by a score of 32-6
Starting Quarterback / Outside Linebacker at NWOSU (Alva) ( 1947-50 )
Played in every quarter of every game during his 4-year college career career at Alva.
Kicked all punts, kick-offs, extra points, and field goals during his career at NWOSU
Named All-Conference QB for 3 seasons while at NWOSU
Graduate NWOSU with a 3.9 GPA ( 1951 )
Dennis came to Purcell High School in 1958 where he taught mathematics and physics, and he coached football, track, and golf
Dennis completed his Master's Degree at the University of Oklahoma ( 1960 )
Besides teaching, Dennis also served as a half-time Assistant Principle at Purcell High School for many years
After working in the Purcell Schools for 20 years, Dennis accepted a job with the Broken Arrow ( OK ) school district in 1978. He served as an Assistant Principal at two Intermediate Schools and at Broken Arrow High School until his retirement in 1987 after 37 years in education
From 1990-2006, Dennis played golf in the yearly tournaments at the Oklahoma Senior Olympics.
He also traveled four times to the National Senior Olympics where he represented Oklahoma in the golf tournament competition
Dennis was honored in 2007 with membership in the NWOSU Sports Hall of Fame
Dennis is remembered fondly by his former PHS students and players as a modest man who was absolutely one the smartest and one of the best teachers / coaches that they ever had
