Selected as the Purcell High School Senior of the Month (November 1975)

Brent was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma cancer in early 1976 which eventually led to the amputation of his left leg. Even then, Brent did not let the fact that he had cancer deter him from playing the sport he loved so dearly

Even after the loss of his leg, Brent was able to compete in many of the Purcell High School Spring Golf tournaments in 1976

Selected as the Purcell High School Male Athlete of the Year (1975 - 1976)

Selected as the Most Outstanding Personality of the 1976 PHS Senior Class

Brent will always be remembered for his championship level talent, his good sportsmanship, and a complete dedication to the game of golf

The Purcell Golf Course was renamed the Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course in Brent's memory on on April 30, 1977
